Former President & CEO of the NAACP receives 20th endorsement, leading Democratic field
Silver Spring, MD — TODAY, Saturday, February 3rd, the Lower Shore Progressive Caucus announced their endorsement of Ben Jealous, former National President & CEO of the NAACP.
This is the twentieth endorsement Jealous has received from a progressive organization or individual since announcing his candidacy.
“This campaign is focused on providing solutions to Marylanders’ biggest problems,” said Jealous, “The issues we’re talking about resonate across our state and that’s why this movement is attracting broad support across every jurisdiction. The Lower Shore Progressive Caucus is yet another Maryland organization focused on solving our healthcare crisis, our education funding crisis, and the slow growth of jobs that has undermined our state in recent years. I’m proud to have their endorsement and when I’m governor, we’ll get back to doing big things again and we’ll do it by making sure that working people once again govern the priorities of our state.”
Previous endorsements have come from: Maryland Working Families, Maryland Postal Workers Union, CWA, CASA in Action, SEIU, Progressive Maryland, UNITE HERE!, National Nurses United, Our Revolution, Senator Bernie Sanders, Senator Cory Booker, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, Friends of the Earth Action, Environmentalist Bill McKibben, Former Obama Administration Official and activist Van Jones, Phil Radford, Democracy for America, People’s Action, and Executive Director of the National LGBTQ Task Force, Rea Carey*.
